You begin your Kathmandu Valley bird watching tour with a hike to Shivapuri National Park which lies a few kilometers north from Kathmandu’s main hub. The park has a good population of Spiny Babbler and Hoary-throated Barwing. A full two days has been set aside for you to explore the most popular birding site in the valley, Phulchowki (meaning ‘Hill of Flowers’ in Nepali). Before you head home you get to visit some of Kathmandu’s iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The verdant hills surrounding Kathmandu Valley serve as perfect nesting sites for many bird species. Phulchowki is situated 18km Southeast of Kathmandu. At 2760m, it is the highest of the mountains around the Kathmandu valley and provides an ideal introduction to the birds of Nepal. Regularly recorded resident species include Besra, Black Eagle, Mountain Hawk-Eagle, Kalij Pheasant, Common Hill Partridge, Ashy Woodpigeon, Wedge-tailed Green Pigeon, Mountain Scops Owl, Collared Owlet, Golden-throated Barbet, Speckled Piculet, Crimson-breasted Pied and Rufous-bellied Pied Woodpeckers, Grey-chinned Minivet, Striated Bulbul, Orange-bellied Leafbird, Spotted Forktail, Chestnut-headed and grey-bellied Tesias, Chestnut-crowned and black faced Warblers, Rufous-bellied Niltava, Lesser Scaly-breasted Wren Babbler, Streak-breasted Scimitar-Babbler, Grey-throated and Spiny Babblers, White-crested, striated, Rufous-chinned and grey-sided Laughing thrushes, Red-billed Leiothrix, Cuttia, White-browed Green and Black-eared Shrike-Babblers, Hoary Barwing, Blue-winged Minla, Nepal Fulvetta, Yellow-browed Tit, Brown-throated Treecreeper, Black-throated Sunbird, Maroon Oriole, Eurasian and Lancelated Jays, Red-billed Blue Magpie and Brown Bullfinch . A further 55 species have been known to visit the area as migratory or occasional visitors. Phulchowki's forests are also very rich in flora and butterflies.

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the Adventure Himalayan representatives will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. After refreshment, you will be briefed in short about your tour by our guide or tour leader. If you have any questions or doubts about your trip then they should be asked and clarified at this time. Overnight stay at hotel.
In the morning, we head to Shivapuri National Park to see the various bird species there. A total of 318 bird species have been identified in the park, including the Golden-throated Barbet, Large Hawk Cuckoo, Eurasian Cuckoo, Himalayan Cuckoo, Collared Owlet, and others. Later, we head back to Kathmandu. Overnight in hotel.

Kathmandu Valley includes several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Pashupatinath (famous Hindu temple and cremation ground) Boudhanath (massive Buddhist stupa). We can also visit Swyambhunath, also known as Monkey Temple, which was built roughly 2000 years ago. Finally, we can visit Patan, city of fine arts. In the afternoon, you will be meeting with your trekking guide and will check all the necessary things. Overnight stay at the hotel.
