Trip Overview

The Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake is one of the best treks in Nepal, a dream journey for adventurous souls seeking both adventure and solitude in one single trip of two remarkable Himalayan regions: the Annapurna Trekking Region and the Manaslu Trekking Region. The combined Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trip with Tilicho Lake blends the raw Himalayan wilderness of one of the untouched trekking regions of the Himalayas with the diverse landscape of the Annapurna Himalayas, offering epic mountain views, profound cultural encounters, and countless unforgettable memories throughout the journey. Among many of the highlights, crossing Larkya La Pass and Thorong La Pass demands a good level of physical fitness and mental determination, making all the effort worthwhile as you stand in the heart of the eighth and tenth highest mountains on the earth, respectively, Mount Manaslu (8,163m) and Mount Annapurna (8,091m).

Based on the 25 days Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trekking itinerary, at first you will leave Kathmandu and venture to one of the remote trekking areas in Nepal, the Manaslu Circuit Hiking routes surrounded by majestic Baudha Himal, Gorkha Himal, and Himal Chuli while bordered by two of the major river systems: the Budhi Gandaki to the east and the Marshandi Khola to the west. The trip then goes through the classic beauty of the Annapurna Circuit to finally culminate in one of the world’s highest lakes, called Tilicho Lake, at an elevation of 4,919m above sea level. The villages of indigenous Gurungs, Magars, Thakalis, and Managis welcome you, showcasing close cultural ties to Tibetan Buddhism as showcased by several Buddhist monasteries, gompas, and vibrant flags along the route. A few sections of this combined Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trekking with Tilicho Lake also feature numerous high waterfalls cascading on the main river, while the valleys shelter several ancient temples, some of which represent the pre-Buddhist Bon religion.

The itinerary slowly rises from the minimum chance of altitude sickness to potentially icy and snowy trails, also bringing changes in the scenery as the river changes course to the west to steep, rocky gorges and pines covering the forest. Though the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake cost can vary significantly based on group sizes and service levels, including the itinerary, as we provide customizing options, our Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trekking with Tilicho Lake cost covers permits, guide services, accommodations, meals during the trek, and transportation used during the journey, including for the years 2025 and 2026. In addition, it is good to note that, since the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trip with Tilicho Lake spans many days and includes obtaining permits for not one but two of the conservation areas—the Annapurna Conservation Area and the Manaslu Conservation Area—the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trekking with Tilicho Lake can get slightly more costly than the typical mountain trekking trails like the Everest Base Camp Hike, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, or the single trek to the Manaslu Circuit Hike.

What can you expect during the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake?

Beginning in Gorkha, the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Hiking with Tilicho Lake moves along the rugged gorge of the Budhi Gandaki River via typical mountain villages dotted with a vast number of Buddhist monasteries and later on the Kali Gandaki River, the world’s deepest gorge, among the few places on the planet where you can find Saligram (fossil stone held dear by Hindus and Buddhists as manifestations of one of the supreme Hindu lords, Vishnu). Trekkers pursuing the trails are expected to be able to walk 6-8 hours daily, which may include paving the way from pleasing lowlands to high-altitude steep ascents and descents. While there is no doubt that the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trip with Tilicho Lake can get challenging at times, especially when crossing the high mountain passes like Larkya La (5,135m) and Thorong La (5,416m), the lush forests are more refined in spring when rhododendrons along with several wildflowers bloom together.

Authentic Himalayan culture with Tibetan Buddhist influences and dramatic displays of sky-towering mountain ranges like Manaslu, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri reward you with adventure like never before. Do not miss seizing this rare opportunity to experience the beauty of the highest landmarks in Nepal. The warm and genuine hospitality of the Himalayan locals, the serene touch of nature during the detour to Tilicho Lake, and the high chances of encountering rare Himalayan wildlife such as red pandas, musk deer, Himalayan tahr, Himalayan black bears, and, on very fortunate occasions, snow leopards as well, make the trekking experience to two of the infamous circuits unmatched. In addition, at Adventure Himalayan Travels and Treks, one of the reputed trek, tour, and expedition organizers based in Kathmandu’s heart, Thamel, we are offering Manaslu Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake cost discount for 2025 and 2026. Get special discounts for groups of trekkers with more than 10 members! Other than that, here are the top five reasons that make this combined trek to Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake stand out:

Which mountains can you see during your trek to Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake?

The Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trekking with Tilicho Lake, which includes crossing Larke La Pass and Thorong La Pass with a detour to Tilicho Lake, is a visual feast, presenting you with varying perspectives of the snow-clad mountain giants. While you are in the Manaslu region embarking on a Manaslu Circuit Trek Trail, you will get breathtaking views of Mount Manaslu (8,163m), the eighth tallest mountain on earth, along with Ngadi Chuli (7,871m), Himal Chuli (7,893m), Shringi Himal (7,161m), and others, especially gorgeous from Larkya La Pass. Then, as you leave the Manaslu Conservation Area and its more remote and rugged nature hiking trails, full-force rivers, suspension bridges, and ancient Tibetan-style villages for the Annapurna side and its more developed trails, vibrant villages, wide-open valleys, terraced farms, and alpine meadows, Mount Annapurna (8,091m) is the one blessing you with unique sights in each step.

Other than Mount Annapurna I (8,091m), the world’s 10th largest mountain peak, Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna III (7,555m), Annapurna IV (7,525m), and Gangapurna (7,455m) are among some of the majestic peaks that you can appreciate along the Annapurna Circuit Trekking Trails to reach Thorong La Pass and later on Tilicho Lake. The lake itself lets you appreciate nearby Tilicho Peak (7,134m) to the fullest, while Thorong La Pass has a dramatic display of Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Nilgiri (7,061m), and glimpses of Mustang peaks, creating an unforgettable panorama throughout your journey.

Are there any specific landmarks for better cultural immersion on the way to the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit hiking routes?

Yes, there are several monuments along the way that serve as some of the best places for an insider-like insight into the Himalayan culture, traditions, and customs of the locals, the true heroes of the Himalayas who have actually been aiding in conserving the unique culture and ecosystem. During this trip, the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Hike with Tilicho Lake, Sama Gaon, Samdo, Lho Village, Braga Monastery, Manang Village, and Muktinath Temple stand out as some of the best places to visit for a deeper and more seamless cultural encounter and experience as you take a round trip in and around Mount Manaslu and Mount Annapurna. Though the villages reflect a touch of Tibetan influence, these are the top tourist destinations to observe the typical mountain life, be part of it, and broaden your knowledge.

In the Manaslu region, while you are in the villages of Sama Gaon and Samdo, the distinctive culture of the Nubri people keeps you motivated, while Buddhist monasteries like Pungyen Gompa and Ribung add much to the spiritual dimensions. Similarly, Braga Monastery, near Manang village, and the village itself, hosting ancient murals, collections of sacred texts, and statues, followed by local museums and traditional stone houses marking the strong Tibetan roots, offer you a quick yet satisfying sneak peek into the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Annapurna region. In addition, as a part of the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake, you will reach Muktinath Temple as well, which is a sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists, which further can be found in various Hindu scriptures, including the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Varaha Purana, and Skanda Purana, as the place of liberation.

Where does the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Hike with Tilicho Lake take you?

The combined trek to Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit takes you to two of the legendary trekking regions, each boasting a unique Himalayan landscape, culture, and experience. The Manaslu region under the Manaslu Conservation Area is again one of the restricted areas in Nepal where only a limited number of trekkers are allowed, only after being permitted with a respective restricted area permit (RAP). Hence, the trekking routes to here are wild and isolated, granting you an expedition-like experience as you gradually ascend from lowlands featuring dense subtropical forests to rugged terrain in the high altitude characterized by desert-like barren landscape in stark contrast to the snow-capped mountain giants dominating the sky horizon with occasional views of the Tibetan Plateau from some of the highest points, specifically Larkya La Pass, Nepal’s longest mountain pass at an altitude of 5,106 m/16,752 ft above sea level.

Once you make it through the Manaslu Circuit Trek, you transition into the more popular, lively, and often crowded Annapurna Trekking trails inside the Annapurna Conservation Area. Stretching over an area of 7,629 square kilometers across five districts of the Annapurna Himalayas, featuring lush subtropical forests to arid high-altitude deserts, and home to the 10th highest mountain on the globe, Mount Annapurna (8,091m), the Annapurna Conservation Area is the largest in Nepal. This specific trekking region of Nepal is known for a fantastic blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and sustainable tourism. Vivid as you move forth, scenic villages and lush forests along the Mrasyangi River eventually lead you to the Thorong La Pass and a high-altitude glacial lake. To put it simply, the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trekking is a journey to explore, experience, and discover two different Himalayan realms in one trip.

Who can cross the Larkya La Pass and Thorong La Pass in the Manaslu and Annapurna Himalayas of Nepal?

The Manaslu and Annapurna Circuits Hiking with a side trip to Tilicho Lake includes conquering two of Nepal’s highest and most physically demanding but rewarding mountain passes called Larke La Pass (5,106m) and Thorong La Pass (5,416m). While both of the trekking routes follow trails well trodden by Himalayan locals and are mostly pleasing, the crossing of mountain passes is to a remote area far away from modern infrastructure and amenities. The path gets rocky, including passing through landslide-prone areas in summer and avalanche-prone areas in winter, followed by icy or snowy trekking routes due to heavy snowfall. The air gets crisper and wilder as you reach the top of the high mountain passes, altogether requiring careful navigation, a peaceful hike, and thorough acclimatization.

It is why the combined Himalayan hike to two of the iconic trekking trails in the world, the Manaslu Circuit and the Annapurna Circuit, is best suited for Himalayan voyages for seasoned trekkers, climbers, and hikers who possess good knowledge of high-altitude trekking and climbing, along with good physical fitness and strong determination. While there are chances for beginners with excellent fitness to conquer this high-altitude Manaslu and Manaslu Circuit Hiking with Tilicho Lake, it is not without at least a month of prior physical conditioning, proper acclimatization, and appropriate packing, denoting your thorough preparation for changing trekking trail conditions and cold weather. Otherwise, both of the high mountain passes reward you with 360-degree panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayas perched high in the sky and lush green valleys in a serene atmosphere, touched with a deep sense of achievement, making everything worth an investment.

How does the landscape change while on the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trekking Trail?

The landscape on the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit hiking route goes through a remarkable transformation, beginning with lush subtropical forests. Expect a mix of well-established trails that step into dramatic gorges and remote and rugged paths as you dive deeper into the Manaslu trekking region to arrive at Larke La Pass. Moving along the Budhi Gandaki River, as you ascend further, the vegetation changes to temperate forests of rhododendron and pine, gradually giving way to alpine meadows and barren, high-altitude terrain above 5,000 m, including in and around Larykya La Pass. Upon joining the Annapurna Circuit, the landscape again showcases a mesmerizing shift that, in the initial days, is dotted with terraced fields and thick forests before you enter the dry and more rugged sections near the Thorong La Pass, also the natural amphitheater revealing a unique landscape beside the panoramic views of snow-capped giants.

Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake 25 Days Itinerary and Cost for 2025 and 2026

The typical Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trekking with Tilicho Lake itinerary of 25 days begins with your arrival in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. The official trek, i.e., on foot, however, begins only on the fourth day after UNESCO World Heritage Sites sightseeing in the Kathmandu Valley and a drive to Machha Khola from Kathmandu. The first day of the trek is to reach Jagat, from where the restricted area starts, gradually leading you into the serene Manaslu Conservation Area, passing through Jagat, Namrung, Deng, Sama Gaon, Samdo, Dharamshala, and finally to Larke La Pass. Following the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trek with the Tilicho Lake itinerary of 25 days, before you cross the Larkya La Pass, Adventure Himalayan Travels and Treks has allocated an entire day for acclimatization so you are well adapted to the low level of oxygen and can avoid getting acute mountain sickness (AMS) or altitude sickness.

By the 11th day, you would have already made it through the Larkya La Pass, concluding the day at Bhimthang, while the trail from here connects you to the Annapurna Circuit at Dharapani. Along the classic Annapurna Circuit trekking routes, anticipate more trekkers, cozy teahouses, and even bakeries offering you freshly baked cookies in a fun contrast to the Manaslu Circuit Trail, where seeing comparatively fewer tourists even during the peak trekking season of Nepal—spring and autumn—grants you an off-the-beaten-path experience with a profound sense of solitude, making you feel like you have the mountains, nature, and routes to yourself. Nevertheless, paving your way through Chyamje, Pisang, Manang, and Shree Kharka, you will reach Tilicho Base Camp on the 18th and Tilicho Lake on the 19th. However, the journey does not stop here, as the Thorong La Pass is yet to come, which connects you to the holy realm of Muktinath Temple that receives thousands of trekkers each year.

Once you make it to Thorong La Pass, depending on the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake itinerary of 25 days, you will walk mostly downhill to drive back to Pokhara and mark the end of the journey in Kathmandu. Adventure Himalayan Travels and Treks has carefully designed this 25 days Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trekking with Tilicho Lake Itinerary so you get to maintain your pace, essential for a safe and more enriching high-altitude trekking experience, and it is just ideal for experienced trekkers seeking more pristine trails, unforgettable Himalayan culture, and mind-blowing mountain panoramas. As mentioned above, though the total Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake cost can be greatly influenced by the customization made by our clients, Adventure Himalayan Travels and Treks is second to none in providing an international level of service at a reasonable and competitive price, including for the years 2025 and 2026. After 3 hours of walking from Samdo, the Athahra Saya Khola turns west. You will cross the bridge and begin to climb the slope. Four frozen lakes lie below, and then it is up to the crest of Larkya La (5,100m).

The award for these difficult trekking conditions is the brilliant westerly views of Himlung Himal, Kangurru, and Annapurna II, as well as the looming omnipresence of Manaslu. On the steep descent, you will drop around 600m in less than an hour, which then levels off onto yak pastures before finally reaching Bhimthang, a collection of typical summer Kharkas.
