Trip Overview

The Siklis Trek of 12 days is one of the best short trekking alternatives to more popular Annapurna trekking journeys, such as the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, and also the Annapurna Circuit Trek via the Thorong La Pass (5,416 m). The Siklis Trekking is rather a picturesque journey, a pleasing Himalayan escape to let yourself be free in the rich culture of Gurung villages such as Siklis in the lap of lush hills and the Himalayas.

The Siklis Trek itinerary takes you to the less-travelled lower region of the Annapurna Conservation Area. The maximum elevation gain is also not beyond 2,000 m above sea level, making it the right trek destination for all ages, experiences, and fitness levels: young or old, beginners or seasoned trekkers, and gym rats or simply healthy individuals. We at Adventure Himalayan Travels and Treks are taking bookings for 2026 and 2027.

Book early or with a group of more than 10 trekkers and enjoy our special discounts on the popular trekking packages from the Everest Base Camp Trek and the Langtang Valley Trek and their extensions, such as the Everest Circuit Trek and the Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda Trek, to the less trodden Annapurna trekking route: the Siklis Trekking Cost. Follow the standard Siklis Trekking itinerary or make it more personalised with customisation; we are here for you.

Though the exact Siklis Trek cost may vary based on the services you have chosen and the types of treks you are doing (group, solo, or private), at Adventure Himalayan Travels and Treks, do not worry; it is reasonable without any hidden cost. Led by one of the highly experienced travel, trek, and tour leaders of Nepal with more than two decades of experience, we are your trustworthy Himalayan holiday partner in Nepal, happy to help make your dream of adventure come true.

What to expect during the 12 days trek to Siklis?

The Siklis trek is a fantastic Himalayan trip for someone who wants to see the majestic 10th-highest mountain in the world, Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m), from up close and also experience the Gurung culture and hospitality that the Annapurna hiking journey is famous for without an extensive high-altitude trek. Serene nature, fresh Himalayan air, and mountain views of peaks such as Annapurna and Lamjung Himal make it worth a journey.

Lower risks of altitude sickness if you are planning a holiday in Nepal with a family or a scenic Himalayan escape after adventurous high Himalayan trekking and climbing, which, however, is equally memorable and offers ample opportunity to witness the diversity of the country's largest conservation area and also its rich culture; the Siklis Hiking of 12 days is a must to book, including for the years 2026 and 2027.

Off the beaten Annaurna View Trekking Experience

Like any other Annapurna treks and climbs in Nepal, the Siklis Trek also begins with a drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu. I.e., it is easily accessible from one of the major cities of Nepal, famous as the city of lakes and a paradise for adventure, with a bundle of things to do, from canoeing, kayaking, and boating to bungee jumping. Pokhara, hence, is perfect for those who are limited in time yet are hopeful for a meaningful exploration.

It gets more interesting when, despite its easy accessibility from Pokhara, the Siklis trekking route remains highly less crowded even than the restricted and more remote treks to the Manaslu Circuit Trek, the Upper Mustang Trek, and the Upper Dolpo Trek. The hiking trail is quieter throughout the years, even during the times of the year considered peak seasons for journeying in the Himalayas: spring and autumn, allowing you to enjoy nature at its best.

Changing perspective of Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m)

Do not worry, though the Siklis Hiking of 12 days is short and does not go higher than 2,000 m, it is not devoid of mountain views. From the beginning of the journey to the end, you can see several snow-capped mountain ranges dominating the sky horizon, more majestic as you move closer and closer to the main highlight, as the name suggests, the village of Siklis. Mt. Annapurna, named after the Hindu goddess of food and nourishment, is the prominent one.

Other than that, trekkers can also see the iconic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and Lamjung Himal even more magically during sunrise and sunset during early morning and evening when the rays of the first and last sun with their golden hues slowly cover or leave the landscapes, including the abovementioned sky-perching mountain ranges. Initially, you catch glimpses as you walk past forests, terraced fields, and traditional villages, which later on open up.

Authentic Gurung Culture and Warm Hospitality

As you know, the Siklis Trekking itinerary includes walking past or staying at the local teahouses between the mountain villages such as Kharpani, Ghalekharka, Nyauli Kharka, Siklis, Chansu, Yangiakot, and also Kalikasthan. These villages are home to mostly Gurungs and Magars, most of whose young lads still serve as the Brigade of Gurkhas in the British and also the Singapore Army, known for their bravery and loyalty.

A famous quote by Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, "If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha," is on their honour, and you are about to visit the land that birthed and brought up such brave souls. Engaged in the traditional way of living in agriculture and animal husbandry, their life appears simple but is content. Happy among themselves in their motherland and community, their warm hospitality is what calls your heart time and again.

Is it suitable for wildlife observation and photography?

Yes, the Siklis Hiking route is still a part of the largest conservation area in Nepal, the Annapurna Conservation Area, which spreads over an area of 7,629 square kilometres. Established in the year 1992, it is also a home to a wide range of flora and fauna. From lush subtropical forests to alpine meadows and almost desert-like landscapes in the trans-Himalayan rain shadow areas, as such, the Annapurna Circuit Trek, it has it all.

While you may not see all of these in a single trip to Siklis, as it takes place in the lower region of the Annapurna Conservation Area, it is no less scenically rich. The forest of rhododendron and bamboo groves is even more scenic when rhododendron blooms with other wildflowers in spring; the chances of wildlife spotting add to the adventurous elements. Do look out for langurs, Himalayan birds, and even rare species of musk deer and Himalayan tahr.

Where to extend the 12 days Siklis Trekking?

No wonder the Siklis Hike is rewarding, but in case you want to go higher, it is also possible. Let us know, or in the middle of the journey, you may also inform your guide, and they can recommend or manage the essential logistics for you. Mardi Himal, Ghorepani Poon Hill, Annapurna Panchase, Khopra Danda and even up to the Annapurna Base Camp or also to the Annapurna Circuit that includes crossing the Thorong La Pass (5,416m) within the same region.

Or you may also choose to enter the nearby restricted Manaslu Conservation Area and its trekking routes, such as the Nar Phu Valley Trek, the Tsum Valley Trek, or even the Manaslu Circuit Trek via Larke La Pass (the longest mountain pass in Nepal) if your health, fitness, budget, and time support you. Contact us and let us know how you plan to conquer your dream Himalayan destinations so we can make essential arrangements for you.

    Useful Info

Which is the best season for short trekking to Siklis?

Being one of the best short treks in Nepal inside the Annapurna trekking region, the Siklis hiking is doable throughout the year, including summer (monsoon) and winter, which are typically taken as off-seasons for high-altitude treks and climbs. But if you are a beginner and wish to ditch the seasonal challenges that summer treks carry, such as frequent rainfall and extreme cold in winter, spring and autumn from March to May and September to November remains unbeatable.

Premonsoon and postmonsoon seasons in Nepal, these times of the year, feature the most stable Himalayan weather, clear skies, moderate temperatures, and the safest trekking trail conditions, as there is hardly any rain or snow even in the Upper Himalayas, such as you reach during the Everest Three High Passes Trek. Further in spring, you have the blooming landscape when the forests burst into various shades of rhododendron, a peak photography time.

Food and accommodation on the Siklis Trekking of 12 days

Though Siklis Trekking is one of the least trodden trekking routes in the Annapurna region, just like other popular treks, it is also one of the teahouse-style Himalayan escapes. Throughout the trip, you can find reliable teahouses, lodges, guest houses, and especially homestays for daily meals and accommodation, as well as close cultural insights in home-away-from-home-like ambiences. That is why you expect a mix of typical Nepalese and Tibetan menus.

Dal Bhat Tarkari (steamed rice with lentil soup followed by seasonal vegetables, sometimes with pickles and meat) is a staple Nepalese dish that is a must-try, rich in carbohydrates and proteins. Other commons are Thukpa (noodle soup), varieties of potato, eggs, and fried rice. Likewise, in accommodation, the higher you go, the more it may be limited to simple teahouses offering traditionally furnished rooms with twin beds and simple bedding in general.

Is it safe to drink water from natural sources on the Siklis Trek Trail?

No, although the water from natural sources such as streams, rivers, and ponds encountered on the Siklis Trekking route may appear neat, clean, and drinkable, it is often contaminated; therefore, drinking directly from these sources, including tap water, is not recommended. The best is to get a metal water bottle and refill lukewarm boiled water from one teahouse to another, usually at some additional cost.

It is the safest option as well. So make sure you keep your water bottle refilled time and again. In case you have to drink from taps, streams, or rivers, at first purify them with a SteriPen or use chlorine dioxide or iodine tablets, or at least carry a Lifestraw. It is a must so that you do not deal with stomach issues that may get triggered by bacteria, parasites, or other contaminants, especially for trekkers who are not used to the Himalayan water conditions.

What are the permits for trekking to Siklis?

It is because the Siklis Trek Trail is also one of the parts of Nepal’s largest conservation area, the Annapurna Conservation Area; you will need at least two permits for journeying even to here, and they are the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) card, most of which, since 2026, have been available online. Visit the official websites of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), NTNC, or TAAN to apply.

Or the best is to purchase a comprehensive Siklis Trekking package from one of the registered trekking agencies of Nepal, such as Adventure Himalayan Travels and Treks. On booking with us, our local mountain guide manages all the essential permits for you, even before the official trip departure date, so that you have a hassle-free trekking experience from start to end. Bookings are now open for 2026 and 2027; save your spot now.

Can you do a solo trek to Siklis without a licensed guide?

No. You may choose not to join fixed group departures, but it is a must that you at least hire a professional mountain guide for any sort of Himalayan trekking adventure in Nepal, especially after the strict banning of Free Individual Trekkers (FITs) inside the country's national parks, conservation areas, and restricted areas since April 1st, 2023. And since the Siklis Trekking also falls inside the Annapurna Conservation Area, it applies to journeying here as well.

A well-experienced and trained guide not only leads you through the Himalayan terrain in Nepal, known for carrying inherent risks of altitude sickness, some steep ascents, descents, and also limited facilities, but also is the one who helps to bridge the linguistic and cultural gaps between you and the locals. Locals from the Himalayas: Their local connections are often helpful in finding you suitable accommodation, even during the peak trekking seasons when most places are booked in advance.
