The Kailash Mansarovar Helicopter Tour is more of a pilgrimage journey to one of the holy mountains in South Asia, Mount Kailash (6,638m), that is held dear by four of the major religions in the world: Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon Po. Hindus believe it to be the abode of Lord Shiva, along with his wife, Goddess Parvati, and helpers. Buddhists, on the other hand, revere the mountain as Kang Rimpoche (paths of the soul, particularly the soul of Tibet based on BonPo religion).

Similarly, in Jainism, Mount Kailash is cherished as Mount Ashtapada (the place where the Jain saint Rishabantha received liberation), and the Kailash Mansarovar Helicopter Tour for 11 days offers you a swift and convenient way to arrive at probably the most auspicious pilgrimage in the world. Devotees throughout the globe believe a single rotation around Mount Kailash purifies one spiritually and gains liberation from all sins, and 108 circumambulations mean you are free from the never-ending cycle of life and death.

In the remote trans-Himalayan region of Tibet, the Kailash Helicopter Tour is so that even pilgrims with limited time to reach sacred Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake. The main highlights are the three-day Mount Kailash Kora (circumambulation), other than bathing in the crystal-clear water of Mansarovar Lake. Where is Mansarovar Lake located?

The Kailash Mansarovar Helicopter Tour, once you reach Tibet, goes through the Mansarovar Lake at an altitude of 4,590m in Tibet near holy Mount Kailash. Pilgrims take a sacred dip in the pristine Mansarovar Lake on the belief that it leads to salvation. Its origin, according to Hinduism, is created by Lord Brahma; hence, every year, thousands of devotees set out on their journey from various parts of the world.

One of the highest freshwater lakes in the world, at the base of Mount Kailash, is one of Asia’s major sources of rivers like the Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra, and Karnali. In the peaceful surroundings, the spiritual energy here is overflowing. Just the right place for deep meditation, yoga practice, and mindfulness as you appreciate the stunning Himalayan views above and amidst the turquoise lake.

Otherwise, this Kailash Mansarovar Helicopter Tour from Adventure Himalayan Travels and Trek does have allocated daily rites and rituals, including bathing followed by unwinding around the lake, so you do not miss any of the major highlights of the tour.

Is Kailash Kora worth going for?

Yes, Mount Kailash, standing tall at an altitude of 6,638 m/21,778 ft., though not the highest mountain in the world, is considered the most sacred among all, unclimbed due to the strong belief that it is the center of enlightenment, liberation, and cosmic power, and is worth taking a round of. With Hindu legends suggesting it to be the place where the god of destruction, Shiva, meditates and lives with his spouse, Goddess Parvati, Mount Kailash is held dear by all other main religions: Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon Po.

Tibetans call Mount Kailash Tise, a place where Buddha Demchok rests, and also the battle site between Milarepa and Naro Bonchung. Helicopter tours from Kathmandu to Kailash Mansarovar are also an opportunity to learn about Nepal and Tibet’s history, culture, and way of living from an insider’s point of view. In addition, Kailash Kora (Parikrama) is believed to bring spiritual merit, worth adding to your bucket list for 2025 and 2026.

Which are the mountains that you can see during the Kailash Mansarovar Helicopter Tour?

While on the Kailash Mansarovar Tour, though Mount Kailas and its several perspectives are the primary mountain views that you will get to relish, Lake Mansarovar, Gurla Mandhata, and the Nalakankar Himal range are also visible, adding much to the scenery. During the flight to Hilsa, pilgrims and trekkers can also enjoy the stunning mountain panorama of Makalu and Kanchenjunga, followed by Api and Saipal Himal.

During the flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, if weather permits, you can also get to see the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. The aerial views of the valleys, rivers, and glaciers below are both thrilling and unique. Through the high-altitude passes like Dolma La and Mayum La, the ruggedness of the Himalayas and the untouched wilderness of the region magnify, and the sense of achievement also multiplies.

Why is Taklakot historically significant?

Useful Info

When is the best time for the Kailash Mansarovar Helicopter Trip from Nepal to Tibet?

Like any other high-altitude trek, the most favorable time for the Kailash Mansarovar Helicopter Tour is also spring and autumn. During March to May and September to November, the weather is stable with low chances of flight cancellations and delays. Skies are clear, temperatures are mild, and it can be rainy or snowy in the months of monsoon and winter.

Often, the Saga Dawa festival also coincides with the spring season, making it an ideal time for the Kailash Mansarovar Helicopter Tour. To conclude, though you may visit Tibet for a round trip of Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake throughout the year, traveling in winter and monsoon/summer means an added challenge and extra steps of preparation and packing.

Must you go all vegetarian during the trip to Kailash Mansarovar by helicopter?

Yes, since Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake are sacred pilgrimage sites for all four major religions of the world—Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Bon—opting for vegetarian options in meals can be one of the ways to show your respect for spiritual values. If you prefer, we at Adventure Himalayan Travels and Treks can also arrange vegetarian meals without onion and garlic during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

While the lodges and guest houses along the way are the ones offering you daily food and accommodation, our professional guide checks the hygiene of the cooked meals. If you have any special requirements, let us know while booking or before the departure of the trip. Overall, you can find a wide variety of menus, and whether to go for vegetarian options or not is up to you.

How are wifi, charging devices, and other amenities on the way to Kailash and Manasarovar?

The lodges and guest houses opened and managed by locals are the ones that usually provide you with Wi-Fi, charging services, and other amenities like hot showers, private rooms, and rooms with attached bathrooms along the Kailash Mansarovar Helicopter Trip route at an additional cost. However, with the increased ruggedness and remoteness, these facilities can be limited.

Internet services can get unreliable, and luxury vacations are scarce in Tibet. Though Indian mobile SIM cards work in Nepal and local Chinese SIM cards in Tibet, managing these is complex but not impossible. In addition, if you are not comfortable sharing accommodation, we can make arrangements for you to incur additional costs.

Is the Kailash Mansarovar Helicopter Tour difficult? Who can do this trip?

The helicopter tour to Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake in Tibet is regarded as moderately difficult due to the high altitude. Though helicopter travel to and from Hilsa means reduced physical strain, the Kailash Parikrama, lasting for three days, specifically includes crossing the high-altitude passes, and such remoteness increases the challenges, overall demanding a good level of physical fitness and mental makeup.

Otherwise, anyone with reasonable fitness can go for a helicopter trip to Mansarovar Lake. Proper guidance and preparation mean you have all that is required for a safe, successful, and unforgettable journey of a lifetime, especially into the world of the most sacred mountain and lake in the world. Grab your passport with at least six months of validity, and if you are above 9 years old, do not miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
