Useful Info

Best time to do the Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Both the spring after the monsoon and the fall pre-monsoon is ideal for trekking the Annapurna Base Camp with the best weather, bright skies, and a fixed calm temperature. At this time, nature is at its best when the spring blooms fully in the multiple colors of rhododendrons and other wildflowers.

Similarly, despite the low temperature and frequent snowfall, winter is another great time to traverse the Annapurna Base Camp if you are fond of a more sedate and solitary walk. Although the summer season is preferred by many, it is definitely the time when you will get lush greenery and landscapes.

To conclude, although spring and autumn stand out as the perfect time for the Annapurna Base Camp trek with appropriate gearing and packing, each season of Nepal offers you something new for you to be one of the first ones to discover.

What is the Food and accommodation service like on the trekking trail to the Annapurna Base Camp?

Though the food and accommodation options often get limited on the Himalayan treks, such as the Annapurna Base Camp expedition, on the 14-day itinerary set by Adventure Himalayan Travels and Treks, you will spend most of the nights at a simple and tidy mountain lodge called Tea House upon entering the remote area from Nayapul onwards, where you will be provided a wide variety of Nepali-Tibetan and international menus.

On your venture into Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will be enjoying the three-star hotels, which generally provide most of the modern amenities that might get restricted on hitting the higher Himalayan region near the Annapurna Base Camp, where you are usually served a menu including Dal-Bhat, a Nepalese dish, and others such as Momo, Corn Bread (roti), varieties of noodles, sandwiches, and bakery items, along with tea and coffee, etc.

To sum it up, the Annapurna Base Camp trip route offers you lodging from simple budget teahouses to deluxe and luxury lodges that usually provide you with mattresses, cushions, electric blankets, hot and cold showers, and complimentary network connections depending upon the elevation where you are spending the night beside the lodge you have chosen, which normally is reasonably priced. Our local Sherpa guide can help you locate the best ones.

Do you need any permits to go for the Annapurna Base Camp Trekking?

Absolutely, to enter each protected trekking area of Nepal, you will need to obtain the necessary permits, such as the TIMS card and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP), as the Annapurna Base Camp trekking trail ventures into the land that comes under the Annapurna Conservation Area Project.

The citizens of SAARC pay NPR 1000 for the first Annapurna Conservation Area Permit, while the rest of the trekkers from non-SAARC countries pay roughly USD 25 (NPR 3,000) per person per entry. Similarly, the TIMS card standard price is USD 20, whereas once again, citizens from SAARC nations can get it at a cost of approximately USD 10.

These permits and fees are regulated to aid environmental protection and promote sustainable tourism, which we will have obtained for you even before the journey to the Annapurna Base Camp commences.

How difficult is the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

The journey to the Annapurna Base Camp is acknowledged as a moderately difficult two-week walk, rambling 5–6 hours each on several steep ascending and descending routes, which can be attempted by anyone with average physical fitness without any issues related to breathing.

The maximum altitude you will reach is at the camp of Mt. Annapurna at an elevation of 4,130, which might not be problematic to conquer successfully with the correct planning and adequate acclimatization. The varying weather is normal in the Himalayas; therefore, it is advised to always follow safety precautions and be prepared for the extreme scenarios that rarely occur.

All of these add to the thrill of the scenic, natural, and cultural Annapurna Base Camp Tour, where adventure awaits you in every step!

What to pack for an epic Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Definitely, packing is one of the deciding factors that estimate the overall grade of the trekking experience at the Annapurna Base Camp; hence, it is important to pack with careful consideration of varying terrain, weather, and duration.

Nonetheless, here is an extensive listing of must-include items for an amazing hike to Annapurna Base Camp, regardless of any other majorly affecting aspects:

Fantastic & memorable experience - Annapurna Base Camp

    Oct 2023 • Couples

My partner and I did the Annapurna Base camp trekking and it was a fantastic experience!! From the start, Rana provided all the information needed to book and prepare for the tour, we booked from Australia and communication was always timely and complete. Then in Kathmandu, Rana picked us up from the airport and provided more details on our tour ( itinerary, what to expect, what to bring to the trekking, etc). Our guide Durga was fantastic too!! Great communication skills, he explained every detail on what to expect each day, where to eat, where to sleep, very patient as we are not fast trekkers, he even taught us some nepali words that were very useful and shared lots about Nepali culture! Also, our porter Malpa was awesome!! Always smiling, grest energy and enthusiasm!!… Durga and Malpa are a great team together and everything went super smooth for us. This has been the best holidays of our lives! Great memories from the great Himalayan mountains!! 🏔️🏔️ Thank you Rana, Durga and Malpa for showing us your beautiful country! Dhanyabād 🙏🪷🪷🙏

I discovered on this trek that enjoyment of the journey is largely tied to the guide leading the climb. Whereas on the previous trek, with the exception of a couple of dark rainy climbs mentioned in a previous review, my guide was frequently far out in front of me and would wait at a place where ther might be confusion as to which path to take, my guide on the Annapurna Trail Rudra Dhoj Waiba was with me every step of my slow journey. He did not act perturbed by my turtle rather than hare pace. He would grab me by the arm whenever I woukd begin to slip. And pick me up when I fell, including a four foot drop from a narrow path after the sun had set. Fotlrtunately, I fell into a bed of high grasses...no injury. He would encourage me, saying "Good Job". He said he was there to make my trek as enjoyable as possible. I had searched the internet and travel agencies here in Kathmandu for Annapurna Adventures. I found none that can compare to the value and personal attention you get from Himamayan
