‘Adventure Himalayan Travels and Treks' offers the Nepal Heritage Tour, which is devised to cover the World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Valley. Of the 10 listed natural and cultural UNESCO World Heritage sites of Nepal, seven lie within the Kathmandu Valley itself. It is 4-day long Tour Package that takes you through the ultimate experience of unearthing the cultural marvels in three popular ancient cities - Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. Visits include Hindu Temple Complex of Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Patan Durbar Square, and the numerous sights in Bhaktapur.
Swayambunath Temple is full of rich symbolism and is one of the oldest religious sites in Nepal. It is perched atop the hill towards the west of Kathmandu Valley. Holy monkeys reside among woods located to the north- western parts of temple complex. Apart from the religious significance, Swayambhunath is famous for having the panoramic view of Kathmandu Valley as well. The temple offers an incredible view of the city of Kathmandu. Boudhanath Stupa is one of the largest Buddhist shrines in the world. Here we can see monks and devotees circumnavigating the stupa. Pasupatinath Temple is the most famous Hindu temple in the country, located on the banks of the Bagmati River. You can see sadhus (holy men) meditating, pilgrims bathing, and sometimes funeral pyres burning. Kathmandu Durbar Square is an old palace of the former Kathmandu Kingdom. Basantapur Durbar Square, built in 16th century, is the former Royal Residence of Nepal and it spreads across five acres of area. Basantapur Palace Complex is divided into two chowks. At the southern end of palace is Kumari Chowk, which abodes a living goddess - Kumari. Narayanhiti Palace Museum is a former residence of King of Nepal which was later converted to the museum after Nepal was declared Republic. The crown jewel it holds is considered the most valuable objects in Nepal. Patan is one of the three archaic cities inside Kathmandu Valley which is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and arts. Krishna Mandir, built in 1637 by King Siddhinarsingh Malla is a Shikhara fashioned stone temple.
For many years, the Kathmandu Valley has remained the center of Nepal in terms of political, economic and social structures of Nepal. Moreover, the feeling of competition among the rulers of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur prior to unification into Greater Nepal by King Prithvi Narayan Shah helped to refine the culture in these kingdoms. Our Nepal Heritage Tour renders a sporadic venture of reliving ancient Nepal.
