Our Langtang valley and Gosainkunda lake Trek is 14-day long moderately strenuous trekking package which brings us through the pristine natural marvels into the very core of Langtang Valley to the precious Glacier Lake of Gosainkunda. Langtang Valley and Gosainkunda lake Trek pursues the remote and hidden route which surpasses through the sparsely populated area.

Our Langtang valley and Gosainkunda Lake Trek begins from the exquisite hill town of Syabrubesi and moves forth through the Langtang Valley, through vibrant rhododendron and conifer woods in Langtang National Park and through alpine pasture land, high passes, glaciers and moraines.  Finally, we make it to the Gosainkunda Lake which is a highlight of our trek. The trek perseveres by way of Lauribinayak Pass all the way to Sundarijal, marking the end of Langtang Valley/Gosaikunda/Helambu Trek.

A ceremony is held in Gosainkunda Lake in every full moon of Bhadra (coincides with the English month of August) during which the religious faith towards the Lake hypnotizes Shamans, Buddhist and Hindu to befall this Lake.  Pilgrims come from all over Nepal and India to take part in this ritual celebration.  Langtang Valley and  Gosaikunda lake Trek has bounty of things to offer which takes you through the magical experience of having 360 degree views of Himalayan peaks, visiting the region where 108 lakes dwell including the most revered Gosainkunda Lake where Lord Shiva himself is deemed to reside. The course progresses further through Tamang and Sherpa Villages. Thus Langtang Gosainkunda Trek can be taken as an amalgamation of both natural and cultural fascinations.

Representatives of ‘Adventure Himalayan Travels’ will pick you up from Tribhuvan International Airport of Kathmandu and take you to our Hotel where you will be shortly notified about your daily itinerary. Dinner will be served in the late evening.

The road winds through a series of twists and turns persistently for about 8 to 9 hours to cover 117km, ending in Syabrubesi.  We will find a lodge for us to spend the first night.

It  takes about five and half hours of walking. The first part of the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. This trail is gradually ascent up to Bamboo passing through Landslide. Afterwards, you trek ascends gently to Rimche (2400m.) through Bamboo (1960m.) which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. You can have lunch at this place if you like. And at the end your trail is level to the Lama Hotel. En route you could see red pandas, monkey and bear if you are lucky

After Lama hotel you will climb through a Rhododendron forest . the ground covered by moss. Trees have ferns and epiphytic orchids on them. It looks like semi tropical jungle.
As you continue climbing there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees. At Ghora Tabela [3000m], the trail emerges from the forest. Once there was a Tibetan resettlement project here, but now it is a Nepalese army post though it has no permanent inhabitants. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery, which you can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang, the headquarters of the Langtang National Park. The houses of Langtang and its neighboring villages are of the flat-roofed Tibetan style, surrounded by stone walls enclosing fields of buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips and barley

The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. Here, there is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory. You should arrive at Kyangjin by lunch time allowing time to acclimatize and explore the area. It is a dramatic setting, with snow-covered peaks surrounding you in all directions such as Langtang Lirung, Ganjala peak, Tserko- Ri, Langsisa ri and many others.

Kyanjin Gompa is the last permanent settlement with a small gompa and a cheese factory.  Use it as a base for day hikes, exploring the upper valley or climbing the hill north of Kyanjin called Tsergori (5033m).  Tsergori lies up the valley from Kyanjin.  The upper valley is surrounded by spectacular snow peaks, including fluted peak Langtang Lirung and the Tibetan Droje Lakpa.  There is plenty to explore in the area! Overnight in Kyanjin Gompa.

There are lots to explore in and around Kyanjin Gompa. We can unravel the glaciers and take a short trek to the Himalayan Yak pastures. Kyanjin Gompa gives the 360 degree views of Langtang Lirung, Genjempol and Kenga Himal ranges. Cheese factory, Buddhist monastery and Tsergo Ri (5033m) are other sites worthy visiting. Later we will travel back to Lama Hotel for night stay.

Today’s trail pursues the route down through Rimche and Bamboo Lodge, extending further through Paira Lodge and the lively forest to head up to the Langtang Khola. We cross the suspension bridge to reach Thulo Village(2260m). Overnight in Thulo Syabru.

The journey on the 9th day begins uphill through schools and gompas before taking us to Dursagang(2660m), and leading us to a ridge at the top of Foprang Danda(3190m). The trail further winds up past Government Agriculture Office to Sing Gompa- a Buddhist monastery located at 3330m. If time permits, we will around Gompa to visit Yak cheese Factory where local cheeses are manufactured.

The trek for 11th day commences by proceeding through the stupa of Sakyamuni which is further along the path and provides a spectacular view of the sparkling water of Saraswati Kunda all the way through Bhairab Kunda, at which point the path ascends uphill to Gosaikunda (4460m).  Overnight at guest house.

Your return trip from Gosainkunda begins on this day as you will walk down from Gosaikunda to Sing Gompa (3250m) or Chandan Bari (3250m). It will take around four and half hours to complete the hike. The trail descends all the way to Sing Gompa, passing Lauribanayak with magnificent mountain views. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Trek from Sing Gompa to Dhunche on the 12th day takes around six hours. The first part of the trail descends through pine, silver oak and rhododendrons forests with occasional marijuana plants before you cross suspension bridge over the Sing Gompa stream. Now, the path stretches across a flat level and you will reach Dhunche, the district headquarters of Rasuwa, after a while. Overnight stay at a lodge.

On the second to final day, we will drive from Dhunche to Kathmandu by private vehicle. You will have breakfast in the morning at the guest house and begin the wonderful and scenic drive. It takes about five hours to reach the Capital City.  You will be transferred to the Hotel once you reach the Capital. We'll have a celebratory Nepali dinner in the night.

We will transport you to the airport.  Thanks for trekking with Adventure Himalayan Travels.  We look forward to seeing you again!

                                rating

                                “Excellent trek, with amazing landscape.
The only point which I would change would be to keep an open schedule for the way up. Many people felt high altitude sickness symptoms, so it would be positive to break up the way up in more one-two days, to allow for proper acclimatisation. To have a fixed trek schedule is not the best to deal with altitude acclimatisation.
Apart from this, everything was excellent.”

“Can't recommend enough. Corresponding with Rana before the trek over email was easy and he was very helpful and responsive dealing with our (many) questions. Our guide  Rohit was knowledgeable, friendly and extremely helpful and our Porter Malpa and Subash were also great company and very kind. Adventure Himalayan  arranged for all of our accommodation ahead of time, reviewed our blood oxygen levels every morning and evening ahead of time and also suggested side treks we could go on along the way. Thank you , Rana and Adventure Himalayan team”.
