In the capital of Sherpa, Namche Bazaar, you will take a short hike to Thame, Khude, Khumking, or up to the Everest Hotel, which gives you an unobstructed view of Mount Everest as well.

Instead of hiking, you can choose to relax and explore the Sherpa culture. However, you must keep in mind that moving your legs up and resting low is a way of acclimatizing, which is important before hopping for further elevation.

At night, you will be staying at a guest house.

You will begin this day by climbing the Khumjung hill, descending to the east of the village, down the broad valley leading to the Dudh Koshi River, and turning north.

There is a Chorten on the ridge top at 3,973 m, descending from Mt. Khumbila (5,761 m). From here, you will visit the birthplace of the reincarnated Lama of the Eongbuk Monastery of Tibet, believed to be the initiator of Buddhism in the Khumbu region of Nepal.

Then, the trail gradually descends through a series of steep switchbacks, down a sandy slope to the Dudh Koshi.

At the end of the day, you will stay in Phortse Tanga, near the river.

Machhermo is an uphill climb from Phortse Thanga, walking alongside a rhododendron forest and passing through a waterfall before Tonba village.

You will continue to do an uphill hike, passing by Dole, Labarma, and Luza villages, till you reach Machhermo, where the Chhorten on the way to Luza village indicates the arrival of the destination of the day.

The journey throughout the day is along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River, with an overnight stay in Machhermo.

The day starts with a ridge climb for an excellent view of the valley to Kangtaiga and also up towards Cho Oyu (8,153 m).

The valley afterward widens while passing through Phangka, then descends to the riverbank before hiking up the terminal moraine of the Ngazumpa Glacier on a steep hill.

When you cross an iron bridge over a stream, the trail levels out, following the valley past the first lake of the trek, Longpongo, at 4,690 m.

Here, you get a chance to observe the footprints of Lama on stone and the mesmerizing, shimmering second lake, Taboche Tsho.

While the Gokyo Valley stands by the third lake linked by a surging stream with a sparkling backdrop of the Cho Oyu mountain range after moving a few steps ahead from the Taboche Tsho Lake,

You will explore the third lake, Dudh Pokhari, after lunch and call a day at Gokyo.

You will go to Gokyo Ri, a small peak above Gokyo village, in the morning to savor the fantastic sunrise and view of the entire Khumbu region.

The more you ascend, the more fascinating the view becomes of the highest peaks of Nepal: Everest, Makalu Barun, Cho Oyu, and Lhotse.

Upon reaching the fourth lake, Thonak Tsho, you will get the pleasure of the serene lake and retrace the trail to the third lake.

In addition, you can hike up to the fifth lake, the longest glacier in the Himalayas, Ngozumba Glacier, if the permits and physical fitness support the expedition, and return to Gokyo for a night.

In case you were not favored to summit Gokyo Ri the previous day, you will head for it today, which is going to be a little demanding with a steep hike of about 3–4 hours.

The striking scenery of Gokyo village, on the edge of the third lake, overlooked by Cholatse and Nogzumpa glaciers, makes up for all the hardships of the day.

To be in the center of soaring Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku, Kangtega, Toboche, Cholatse, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest, Changtse, and Pumori will be gratifying.

The sight of sunrays kissing Everest, which towers over all the surrounding peaks, is astounding.

Then, you will trek through the Ngazumpa Glacier to the other side of the mountain, traversing along the cliffs, and mender into Thagnak.

The trail doesn’t cover much distance, with an afternoon and evening rest to prepare for the next long hiking days with fair elevation gain.

It is one of the toughest days of the trip, involving a glacier traverse on the eastern side of the Cho La Pass, which itself isn’t difficult.

The vertical trail glazed by ice on the rocks is the actual confrontation, which might be slightly slippery.

Whereas the trail from Phedi is through a massif, a ravine, and the sides of the frozen lake to the top of the pass, decorated with prayer flags.

The pyramidal Ama Dablam presides over mountains in the south, Cholatse to the west, and Lobuche to the east, while the Naruntse rises sharply to the right.

Before you reach Dzongla Village, which has great views of the mountains mentioned earlier, along with Pheriche village far below, you will have to pass through a few crevasses.

The trek of this day is a very short one that includes ample time to relax and enjoy the surrounding beauty.

At first, you will climb down from Dzongla and walk through a grassy trail with a dazzling view of Lobuche Peak.

Then, it curves through the wide river bed before Lobuche. Here, you will spend the rest of the day resting to recharge yourself for the next day’s long trek.

                  Overnight stay in Lobuche!

The first section of the trek starts from Lobuche, which follows the narrow space between the moraine of the glaciers and the wall, then you will cross the tributary mountain glacier to reach the dry lake bed called Gorakshep.

You will stop here for lunch and then head for the base camp of Everest and explore the famous area for climbing expeditions up to the highest summit on the planet, Mt. Everest. It is a brilliant opportunity to experience the energy of the brave climbers.
