Langtang Valley Trek with Scenic Helicopter Return is a luxurious adventure in the wilderness of the Langtang region located to the north of Kathmandu. The trek is gaining popularity these days as it is an easier, luxurious and quicker version of the Langtang trek. The 6 days short trek takes you to the lush green landscape of the Langtang national park, strolling around traditional and recently built houses.
The best part of the trek is passing through the ethnic Tamang communities in Langtang village before heading to Kyangjin Gompa monastery, Tserko Ri ridge, and the beautiful Tsona lakes. Finally, the second-best part of this easy-going tour is returning to Kathmandu via Helicopter ride with scenic Mountain views of the mountains and the green hills underneath.

Today, you drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi via a 4DW private jeep. You drive north of Kathmandu through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabru Bensi, passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of the Trishuli River, you see the Ganesh Himal set against the rice, maize, and mustard terrace farms and hills enveloped with green forests.
oday, you will walk for about five and a half hours when the first part of the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola, which is a gradual ascent up to Bamboo, passing through Landslide.
Afterward, your trek ascends gently to Rimche (2,400m) through Bamboo (1,960 m), which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. You can have lunch at this place if you like.
At the end, your trail levels up to the Lama Hotel and finally to Sherpa Gaou. On your fortunate day, en route, you could see red pandas, monkeys, and bears.
After Lama Hotel, you will climb through a rhododendron forest with the ground covered by moss. Trees have ferns and epiphytic orchids on them, which look like semi-tropical jungles.
As you continue climbing, there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees. At Ghora Tabela (3,000m), the trail emerges from the forest. Once there was a Tibetan resettlement project here, but now it is a Nepalese army post, though it doesn’t have permanent inhabitants.
The trail then continues to climb gently, and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months.
The trail today is gradually uphill through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail settles in Kyanjin.
Here, there is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory. Arriving at Kyangjin by lunchtime allows time to acclimatize and explore the area, which is a dramatic setting with snow-covered peaks surrounding you in all directions, such as Langtang Lirung, Ganjala Peak, Tserko-Ri, Langsisa-Ri, and many others.
Today is a day to rest and explore the area. You can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces, and ascend at Cherko Ri (5050 meters), which is the highest point of this trek, directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang peak.
Over ten mountain peaks above 6000 meters can be seen from here. The Kyangjuma Gompa is decorated with fluttering flags and a magnificent wall of the Himalayas. Located at the foothill of the Langtang Lirung, the Dorje Lakpa, and the Langshisa RI, the Kyanjin Gompa is one of the oldest Gompas of the region, probably built around the sixth century.
Today is one of the most exciting trek days as you return to Kathmandu via helicopter. The aerial views of the mountain and the landscape from the helicopter are some of the most spectacular sights that you can see.
The changing landscape of the Langtang Valley from the helicopter presents a new perspective on the journey. After landing in Kathmandu, you are transferred to the hotel.
