Shivapuri Trekking is also known as Shivapuri Nagarkot trek and Shivapuri Nagarkot hike. Shivapuri Trekking is a short package of mere 8 days which begins from Budhanilkantha and ends in Nagarkot which is as popular for sunrise view as for having panoramic views of Everest and other snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas in eastern Nepal.

When to embark on Shivapuri Trekking, you will have a chance to experience the serene aura of Budhanilkantha Temple where lies the huge idol of Lord Vishnu (The Protector) in a lake in sleeping position. On a clear day, you will get stunning views of Kathmandu Valley from the north side while Nagarkot serves as the view point for enjoying the breathtaking view of the Annapurna range, Manaslu mountain range, Ganesh Himal range, Langtang Himal, Lakpa Mountain, Melung Tse Himal, Gauri Shankar Himal, Everest and Lhotse Himal.

This trek lets you pass through several Tamang villages that exist at the edge of valley which will give you the insight into lifestyle, culture and religion of the ethnic community of Tamang without having to travel far from the capital city.
The route for Shivapuri Trekking initiates from Budanilkantha and passes through Chisapani and Nagarkot before returning back to Kathmandu.
