Great experience Everyone friendly and helpful. The roads however in Nepal are like a dirt track not for the feint hearted! Food great.

  • Annapurna Base Camp Trek -14 Days

    rating

I discovered on this trek that enjoyment of the journey is largely tied to the guide leading the climb. Whereas on the previous trek, with the exception of a couple of dark rainy climbs mentioned in a previous review, my guide was frequently far out in front of me and would wait at a place where ther might be confusion as to which path to take, my guide on the Annapurna Trail Rudra Dhoj Waiba was with me every step of my slow journey. He did not act perturbed by my turtle rather than hare pace. He would grab me by the arm whenever I woukd begin to slip. And pick me up when I fell, including a four foot drop from a narrow path after the sun had set. Fotlrtunately, I fell into a bed of high grasses...no injury. He would encourage me, saying "Good Job". He said he was there to make my trek as enjoyable as possible. I had searched the internet and travel agencies here in Kathmandu for Annapurna Adventures. I found none that can compare to the value and personal attention you get from Himamayan

  • Cultural Heritage and Nature Experiences Tour - 8 Days

    rating

The tour was very good. Tour company owner and our primary contact Rana and our driver Dinesh were very good to deal with. Rana picked us up from the airport and sat us down to explain what to expect for the next 7 days on our tour. We went in August, which happens to be the rainy season, and thus was not a busy season, so it eneded up being a private tour. We had the same driver throughout the tour, but our guides changed at each destination. And they were all very good to deal with. Knowing the standard of accommodations isn't what we were used to, we paid a little bit extra to upgrade to 4 star hotels, and it was definitely worth it. I strongly recommend doing that. Just the upgraded views make it worth it. The one major complaint I have about Nepal is thier roads. It took us 10hrs to drive 250 kilometres. I wouldn't even call it a road, it's just a series of potholes that you need to drive over very slowly. Our driver Dinesh did an excellent job of navigating them, but it did seem like we were spending a large chuck of every other day just driving. The distance we covered isn't large, but because the roads are atrocious, what should have taken 3-4hrs, routinely took more than twice that long. But we had a good time in Nepal despite the drives, and I would definitely recommend Ranas company any day if you choose to go to Nepal. He is very attentive to his customers needs, that's for sure.

Very structured and regimental if you're into that. But also a decent amount of free time offered. Personally my favorite bit was Chitwan - definitely worth it!

  • Everest Base Camp & Kala Patthar Trek-14 Days

    rating

This two-week Mount Everest Bascamp, roundtrip from a Lukla Airport, over its 100+ miles long and there mile elevation, gave me a great sense of accomplishment. My personal guide Mann was very patient with this senior hikers slow pace. His assistance on the two days we were climbing in the rain and dark until 9:30 PM was a Godscend. He held on to me as we trod in the pouring rain over steep, rocky terrain lit by the flashlight on his cellphone. The guesthouses and meals in those facilities provided a comfortable, clean respite between the segments of the trek.

  • Overland Tibet with EBC Tour 8 days

The guide and driver provided the seven persons on the tour, which included me, with excellent service and information about Llasa and the southernTibet sites we viewed. I particularly enjoyed the Mount Everest Tibet basecamp visit and our tour of a Bhudist nunnery.. The accommodations were first class. While the roads in Nepal are unpaved and rocky, the driver and 4by4's shocks and suspension took us through the jolting terrain.

  • Spirit of Bhutan - 8 Days

Very well run by the local tour company (Gakyil) . My guide and driver were excellent.(Dev and Tashi) Both had really good knowledge. Tashi my guide gave me a great insight into Budhisim. We also had a lot of fun and many laughs. I highly recommend this tour. Bhutan is a real eye opener. There should be more places like this in this world. Glenn Burnside New Zealand

  • Langtang Valley trek 10 Days

    rating

This is a great trek from a professional trekking company. My thanks to Rana (owner) for all his advice and organisation for us. The trek itself is not overly long, for a total of 10 days including starting and finishing in Kathmandu. The walk up the Langtang Valley along the river is spectacular with breathtaking views of the mountains and walking through beautiful forests. We had a fantastic Guide - Purna Raj, who was knowledgeable, funny and safe. This is really important on a trek like this. My advice for those considering this trek: 1. Do it! 2. Wear good quality ankle length boots - no Runners - the track is very rough and often muddy. 3. Try to book a jeep transfer to and from Kathmandu to Syrabrubesi as the road there is very very rough in places. 4. Moderate level of fitness as there are some big days in terms of climbing and distance covered. All in all, 5 stars and highly recommended.
